Web Design: What is good design really? Part 1

Part 1: First impressions count.

We all know first impressions count, whether it’s the friendliness of staff at a restaurant, the impressive (or unimpressive) lobby of a hotel or simply the manner in which a phone call is answered. As life gets busier and busier, consumers are encouraged to put more and more weight on first impressions – and with so much choice in the market these days, they can afford to.

This holds true to web presence, too – even more so, in many respects. With so many people seeking out local products and services online, business owners need to be aware that internet users are viewing their business online and making judgements, without even leaving their home. For this reason, quality web design is no longer a luxury, it’s a necessity.

Luckily, this doesn’t need to cost an arm and a leg – while many less flexible web designers don’t work closely enough with their clients to really tailor solutions to their needs, or budgets, some providers do. In these way businesses of any size can compete online and make a positive first impression, turning a website into sales in no time at all.
